Inspirational Artists

Carolyn Saxby

Carolyn Saxby lives and works in St Ives, Cornwall and terms her textile art as a fusion of contemporary and country. She’s one of several textile artists using recycled materials in her work, although she has a very strong and unique style all of her own. Carolyn is constantly  inspired by nature and works to incorporate traditional materials and techniques into her work, as well as found objects.

Mister Finch

Self-taught artist Mr. Finch creates animals and other objects that seem to stem from Alice’s Wonderland. Inspired by the rolling hills and mossy woods near his home in Yorkshire, Finch forms flowers, insects and birds that fascinate him with their amazing life cycles and extraordinary nests and behaviour.

He then goes hunting for vintage textiles – velvet curtains from an old hotel, a threadbare wedding dress or a vintage apron – and transforms them into all sorts of beasts and toadstools. According to Mr. Finch, his figures are “storytelling creatures for people who are also a little lost, found and forgotten”.

Rosie Logan

Many of Rosie Logan’s wall panels have an organic influence, they look alive.  They are interactive, without a definite  fixed direction.  A focal point for many spaces, illuminating a dark, dull area, adding warmth to a cold spot or creating a calm and relaxing ambience.
The seductive influences of these rich textiles ask to be touched. They are designed for that purpose, their tactile nature is what it’s all about.
